A storytelling workshop aiming to explore the art of oral tradition of various nations, focused on the Greek folk. During this workshop, we are going to approach storytelling experientially, also expression through spoken word, postures, and different speakers of the body, and of course, we will play with stories. The primary goal of this workshop is to exchange linguistic and cultural elements through a journey into the folk oral traditions of various nations. This workshop has a purely experiential character that will be based on the necessary theory.
In this workshop, we will study folk tales and myths as well as oral storytelling techniques. Specifically, we will deal with:
• the origin, history, and roots of folk tales
• the basic characteristics and types of folk tales
• the variations of fairy tale types among different peoples
• storytelling techniques and methods
Multilingual narration
• creation and presentation of a personal narrative
The workshop lasts 14 hours. It is divided into 7 two-hour sessions starting on Friday 2 May at 19.00-21.00 and for every Friday of May 9, 16, 23, 30, June 6, ending June 13. Cost of participation is 20 euros per session.
Each session will be linked to the content and material used in the previous one, so it would be good for anyone who decides to attend, to have a consistency.
The language of instruction will be English enriched with many Greek elements and linguistic elements from the participants’ countries of origin, if they wish so.
At the end of the workshop those participants who wish will have the opportunity to present their work to the audience in a storytelling performance.
