On Saturday 15 July 2023 at 20.00 the anniversary exhibition entitled “100 YEARS of George Hadjinikos” will be inaugurated on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great musician in 1923, in the “George Hadjinikos” hall. The exhibition is a visual and acoustic narrative of the life of the distinguished Greek soloist, orchestra conductor and music educator, who was prominent abroad. In the heart of the grass, a three-dimensional interactive story line traces his most important milestones in his journey in music as a conductor, pianist and educator. Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to “get to know” George Hadjinicos through a personal journey of discovery of his story. The design of the exhibition allows viewers to determine for themselves how much they will indulge in the musician’s journey of discovery. The entire exhibition expands into a white showcase filled with memories both material and immaterial. For almost every exhibit that is in physical form, a QR code next to it takes the visitor to audiovisual narratives of George Hadjinikos, to musical sounds and to digital albums that dress his multidimensional life with images.
*Visitors to the exhibition are advised to bring headphones and a QR code scanner on their mobile phones.

Pre-concert talk: Essense and origins of musical interpretation: the basic principles of the interpretive approach of George Hadjinikos”. George Hadjinikos’ interpretations have a rare clarity and a humanistic expressiveness, which makes even the most difficult work accessible to the listener and able to move him, regardless of the era and the style the work represents, while at the same time achieving the same quality of interpretation not only as a pianist, but also as a conductor, as he had the rare ability to be able to inspire musicians and convey to them his deep knowledge of the work and his love of music. This talk attempts to summarize G.H.’s views on musical interpretation, taking as a starting point both his written texts and listening to his performances and attending his seminars.
Recital: Contemporary Greek Music for solo piano with works by Greek composers of the 20th and 21st century – Fani Karagianni, piano
This is a recital of works by 10 Greek composers covering a relatively long period of time, with the composers’ birth dates ranging from 1904 to 1986, while the composers’ dates of composition range from 1939 to 2020.
Within these chronological frameworks, two groups of works emerge: works by composers of the older generation (N. Skalkotas, G.A. Papaioannou, A. Kounadis, K. Nikitas), written between 1939 and 1966, and works by composers of the younger generation (Ch. Samaras, K. Tsugras, V. D., G.J. Maraloni, D.J. Maraloni, D.G. Koutoula), written during the last 17 years (2003-2020). The younger group of composers is active in important musical institutions of Thessaloniki, such as the Department of Music Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the State Conservatory of the city.
Most of these works were recorded on 2 CDs with titles:
Fani Karagianni: Contemporary Greek Music for Solo Piano – [Phasma 0044]
Costas Tsougras: Monograms (Solo and Ensemble Works) – [Phasma 0043
