Angelinis – Hadjinikou Foundation Concert with Dimitris Kalantzis for the purposes of the Horto Festival 2024
The Angelinis-Hadjinikou Foundation organizes a concert for the support of the Horto Festival with Dimitris Kalantzis and his quartet. The Horto Festival, which this year completes 40 years of musical and educational activity, is under the auspices of the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, for the year 2024.
The purpose of this concert is to raise funds for the restoration of the Foundation’s facilities and thus for the proper functioning of the Festival, from the devastation it suffered last September, after the storm Daniel.
Dimitris Kalantzis and his quartet will present the programme “Yesterday in the Evening”, which is a jazz glimpse at the yesterday of Greek music by iconic composers of the past and more specifically of that part of Greek music that we rather uncomfortably call “light”. It covers a huge range of musical output, from classical to film… and naturally… songs!
Compositions by Giannidis, Kapnisis, Spartakos, Mouzakis, Morakis, in mainstream jazz arrangements, 50s-60s style, without any discounts in their absolutely jazz character. Besides, their compositions, like themselves, are clearly influenced by the jazz of their time.
