Linde Nijland – Bert Ridderbos
Linde Nijland is called ‘best folk singer of the Netherlands’ (Heaven magazine). She has been performing and recording for many years with multi instrumentalist Bert Ridderbos (‘seemingly a one man orchestra’ fRoots) on guitars, cittern, accordion, banjo and dobro. Besides touring Europe, Linde and Bert have made a musical friendship journey over land to Bhutan (through Balkan and eastern countries like Serbia, Iran, India) of which they produced a documentary. More recently Linde’s brand new album ‘Ten Years’ – with mostly self penned songs – was released and nominated for the esteemed German award ‘Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik’.
Linde started out as a part of female harmony singing duo Ygdrassil but is perhaps most well known for her versions of songs of the legendary singer songwriter Sandy Denny. This led to her performing at an All Star Fairport Convention reunion concert in The Barbican in London curated by Joe Boyd (prod. of i.e. Nick Drake, Pink Floyd), with i.e. Richard Thompson.
Live Linde and Bert create a unique atmosphere. They perform Linde’s own songs, as well as traditionals and classic English, Scottish, Irish and American folk songs. A capella songs are mixed with ballads, instrumental tunes and up tempo sing alongs.
