Nikos Adraskelas began his musical studies at the Ars Nova Conservatory, Athens, graduating in 2004 from the class of Christina Tertipi with a diploma in piano performance (distinction).
Whilst there, he also studied with Yannis Pantazatos (tonal harmony) and Panayotis Adam (baroque and renaissance counterpoint). He also studied Music Theory and Composition continuing his musical research under the mentorship of pianist, conductor and pedagogue George Hadjinikos.
Since 2006 as a piano duo, along with Christos Marinos, he has performed in Greece, Austria, the Netherlands and the UK giving recitals, collaborating with orchestras, chamber ensembles and singers. Nikos finds in chamber music the outmost and complete form of musical expression.
In 2011 he moved permanently in to a small village on Mount Pelion called Horto, 360 km away from his home town, to fulfill his dream - making music in a small community bridging the gap between art and daily life away from big city’s angst and noise. There he formed Hortodia - community choir of South Pelion - which performs regularly in various places all the year round - visit the website at http://hortodia.com.
In 2012 he became Secretary of the Non-Profit Cultural Foundation Angelinis – Hadjinikos. His activity also includes musical compositions for the theatre (Volos’ State Theatre period 2013 - 2014 and 2014 - 2015), forming choirs for small children and the youth and piano tuition, whilst he continues to participate in the organisation of music seminars and other events held in Horto especially during the annual Horto Summer Festival.
