Horto Choral Course 2019 -

Music of Despair and Consolation

2019 will be the third year this course has taken place. In 2017 we performed Brahms “Requiem” with piano, in 2018 it was Beethoven’s “Mass in C” with orchestra. Next year we will be performing a mixed programme of a cappella works and choruses with small instrumental ensemble with the title 'Despair and Consolation’, including Ramsey “How are the mighty fallen”, Weelkes “When David heard”, Carissimi “Plorate filii”, Purcell “With drooping wings”, Zelenka “Lacrimosa” (from his Requiem in D) and choruses by Bach and Handel (“Crucifixus”, “Ruht wohl, ihr heiligen Gebeine”, “Mourn, Israel, mourn”, “He saw the lovely youth” etc.). The course culminates in a concert held in an open-air amphitheatre.
