Non-Profit Foundation Angelinis-Hadjinikos
Following the success of the first Horto choral course last year, when some 65 singers performed
the Brahms Requiem, this year’s course will feature the Mass in C by Beethoven, under the
direction of conductor Timothy Brown, with a small orchestra. The performance will take place on
August 6, 2018. Daily rehearsals will take place during the preceding week and singers from all over the world are invited to participate.
Under the auspices of the Angelinis-Hadjinikou Foundation the course lasts just 10 days. It is situated in the tiny fishing port of Horto, close to Volos, in the heart of olive country. Rehearsals take place in an old olive store, just metres from the sea, and the performance takes place in an open amphitheatre in the village. Participants stay in local village accommodation and eat in the excellent local hostelries. A day trip is organised In between, and the schedule allows plenty of time for swimming in the exquisitely warm and translucent water. Horto lies on the western side of the Pelion peninsula and is completely protected from the Aegean Sea, so is typified by calm sea almost all the time. One can expect unbroken hot weather!
Please forward this message to any singers you know who might be interested.
